We acquired an effective stake in Trisonic International Limited in late 2007 with the vision to expand our presence in China and tap strategically into the world's largest steel & vanadium industry.
Trisonic is the largest privately owned integrated steel-making group located in Sichuan and a subsidiary of Sichuan Chuan Wei Group Co., Ltd ('Chuan Wei'), a conglomerate that has businesses in minerals & mining operations, steel & coke manufacturing, cement production and real estate.
Trisonic holds four subsidiaries that collectively own two iron ore mines, two steel plants, one vanadium pentoxide plant and one coke plant.
In June 2009, we increased our stake in one of the steel plants, Neijiang Chuanwei Special Steel Co, Limited ('Special Steel') to become its controlling shareholder, thus transforming us into a steel & vanadium producer. Special Steel is controlled and managed by Sapphire in Singapore.
