Sapphire Corporation Limited (‘Sapphire’) was formerly known as I.R.E Corporation Limited, which started as a building maintenance specialist in 1976 and expanded into construction activities following a joint venture with Nippon Paint Singapore (part of Wuthelam Holdings Group) in 1985. In 1999, Sapphire was listed on the Singapore Exchange. Subsequently, Sapphire ventured overseas and established its networks in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Middle East, Myanmar and Vietnam. In 2005, Sapphire adopted its present name to reflect the change in business direction. Sapphire will tap on rapid economic expansion in the region, particularly in the PRC, which is opening up opportunities in fast-growing enterprises seeking capital. Leveraging on its network, technical competency in the areas of property construction, building materials, infrastructure development and newly acquired expertise in investments, Sapphire seeks good investment returns by investing in infrastructure-related companies with strong potential for public listing.
